Automation city is a result of our research which started with a mind map of references. Diving into this matter, we asked ourselves where automation in a city will lead? What kind of scenarios would this bring to existing urban fabrics, and which conflicts could this produce? We gathered the references into a mind map and grouped them by the nature of the subject. While doing this, we started making small speculative concept sketches that made connections in-between these groups. By reiterating this process, these concept sketches became hybrids fusing our imagination with the gathered information. In this process of putting two hybrids next to each other, a new one emerges. Using this mind map as a tool and combining these small hybrids, a futuristic city arises, becoming a big hybrid. This city is a result of repeated reflection and speculation. It doesn’t form a utopic nor a dystopic image but rather a heterotopia. The city is a hybrid of individual opinions, which results in an unbiased representation of a city.

		<description>

This movie is a mapping by the drone called 'SAM-217' through a stacked heterotopia in the near future. The name SAM stands for scanning, archiving, and mapping. In this story, SAM tries to capture everything he encounters on its path by using the rapidly evolving technology of scanning and photogrammetry. Scouring the bottom layer we live on today, just as Google maps, it tries to capture as much as possible. In this stacked heterotopia, the current way of documenting the landscape like google would not work. Together with the other SAMs, he can scan and document a lot of data at one glance with its different kinds of lenses. Like sedimentologists, they document everything on the street that gets sifted down from the above layers. It ranges from dirt to floating around data and e-waste. Just as a sedimentologist can read a section of a rock formation, this data will show the history of this future world.

Through the opinionless eyes of the machine, the viewer investigates this future world and what a layered city can bring with it. The robot makes us the viewer, the protagonist in the movie. Through all the dry data passing through the machine's processor, we can see a few narratives unfold.&#38;nbsp;

This is the artwork and visuals for the album I made for BOLT RUIN. The album consists of five artists that were provided with the song stems from BOLT RUIN's debut track. The invited artists shredded his tracks and transformed them into a whole new production, going much further than merely re-using or remixing them. In this work, I translated their destructive analog and digital sounds into an organic digital sculpture. The work resulted in a sculpture that brings six human bodies together, which disintegrates into a digital meat Frankenstein.

		<description>

My master dissertation is a journey/research inward. Being in a family scattered all over the world and with two different nationalities creates a unique family situation. A family where the distance isolates one from the other and its original cultures. Living so far apart, the memories of these people are scarce and begin to fade. Not being place-bound as a family, we never got to have a fixed place to mourn when somebody would pass away. Without this focus point, it is too hard to hang on to the thoughts of the departed in daily life. Not being able to hang on to them raises feelings of guilt and ungratefulness.

 Through this master dissertation, I realized that we need a fixed resting place. This place would be about bringing flux to moments of stasis. A place where we not only could be together with the departed but also give the feelings of family, 'Saudade, guilt and disconnection a controlled and fixed place in our lives. A place that is not limited by economic burdens, traditions, nor location. To anchor my memories, I constructed a mental place, which we can pull close and let go when it is needed. These moments of stasis are memorial spaces through which I tried to encounter the departed people. To encounter them in the architecture, I needed to embody them into it.

 The drawing became my construction site, a world without limit where the train of thought came to a halt. The drawing is the physical aid that bridges the mental and physical worlds and makes the mental tangible. Designing and drawing in this case, is a healing process that has just started. Working on it is a process to keep and conserve the memories and connections with the departed alive. By drawing and constantly switching between large-scale detailed drawings, smaller sketches, and rigorous measuring of my surroundings, I translate my thoughts, emotions, and ideas to something physical. Combining this and paying extra attention to designing physical gestures and thresholds, one can always imagine and recall this place. It allows me to embody the space and implement it back into my mind's landscape.og
